Basics of the Environment (B.O.T.E.) A day of lecture and games conducted in public elementary schools within Metro Manila that familiarizes children with the principles of the environment.
Exposure Trip At least twice each year, we choose a location that is worth visiting in order for us to learn and see the different sides of being an environmentalist. The venues may range from metropolitan environmental sites to dilapidated zoos to outdoor nature trips in mountainous provinces. Exposure trips serve as eye openers for the organization’s members and applicants.
Community Lecture Series (CLS) A series of lectures on proper waste management in selected communities around the university.
Anti-Straw and Anti-Styro Campaigns A variety of visual reminders on the adverse effects of straw and Styro
Birdwatching A nature appreciation activity; interesting trivia: one can spot over 100 species of birds in the UP Diliman area alone
The aforementioned activities of UP Haring Ibon mainly encourage environmental awareness, nature appreciation and preservation of our natural resources. For almost 21 years now, the organization has been a dominant figure within the university in addressing environmental issues and concerns. We, as members, fervently believe that a community that is well-informed and well-educated on the environment’s vital role in the lives of people is a community worth living.
